Samsung has set-up a new teaser site, complete with 31 seconds of video that leaves us all gold and glittery inside.  Of course they are touting their next generation Galaxy S, which gets more than a few ears perked up.  Still nothing new from this latest video, but we now have a countdown to Samsung Mobile Unpacked on Feb. 13 in Barcelona (we’ll be there, of course).  Hit the source link to learn that "Something big is coming!" We typically don’t post more than a few HTC news stories a day, but it looks like HTC having a great day in the blogosphere. Contrary to what you might have heard, it turns out that the HTC Thunderbolt will indeed be launching with data Hotspot capabilities. LG Optimus 3D

Well, cross that one off the list. Just hours after the LG Optimus 3D picture leaked out, LG confirmed that we’ll indeed see it in a couple weeks at Mobile World Congress. Here’s the presser, in its entirety:

SEOUL, Feb. 1, 2011 – At this year’s Mobile World Congress, LG will unveil the LG Optimus 3D, the world’s first 3D smartphone offering consumers a full 3D experience right in the palm of their hands.

The LG Optimus 3D addresses the lack of 3D content issue — one of the biggest problems facing the 3D market — with a complete platform for a one-of-a-kind experience on a mobile device. LG’s most advanced smartphone to date will feature a dual-lens camera for 3D recording, a glasses-free LCD panel for 3D viewing and diverse connectivity options such as HDMI and DLNA for 3D content sharing anytime, anywhere.

Further details and a live demo of the LG Optimus 3D will be offered at Booth #8B178 at MWC in Barcelona from February 14 to 17.

We’re not entirely sure that a lack of content is really what’s holding 3D mobile phones back (though it’s certainly part of the chicken/egg equation). Guess we’ll have to see for ourselves. We’ll be there, of course. Stay tuned for the hands-ons and such.

Carrier price drops on HTC phone are a natural part of a handset’s life cycle. It’s typically a sign that sales of that handset have decreased and the service provider simply wants to keep their sales numbers up. But in the case of the HTC DROID Incredible on Verizon, it could mean that a true [...]

Mobile World Congress is slowly getting closer, but since we’ve already spotted HTC’s next flagship smartphone in the wild it’s not too surprising that we received an email this morning with yet another shot of it.  This time around, the image provides a much clearer picture of the front of the handset and our tipster [...]

The Super Bowl is right around the corner and we’re all anxious to see what products are advertised during the game since they reach so many viewers.

We have our first commercial by Motorola for the highly anticipated Xoom tablet. The ad takes place in space with a quick reference to Apple’s 1984 ad before showing off the Xoom’s qualities.

After the reference to 1984, the ad shows off 1080p playback, 3G and 4G models, dual cameras and Android 3.0 (Honeycomb). Towards the end, Motorola appears to take a shot at Apple by saying "It’s Time to Live a Free Life" after going through phrases such as "One Authority" and "One Design." It’s a sweet commercial that makes us more anxious to see what’s plugged during the Super Bowl.

The LG G-Slate was announced at CES 2011, but since then, LG and T-Mobile have been super tight-lipped about the tablet. One would think LG would want to start showing the device off, especially with all these Motorola Xoom rumors floating around. But instead, YouTube user MysteryGuitarM has uploaded a brief shot of what looks like the G-Slate. The back of the tablet carries two cameras and Google branding. Don’t believe us? Watch the video after the break and jump to the 3:35 min mark to skip all the yapping. [YouTube via Engadget]

Porting Android builds that have been extracted from the SDK is nothing new.  But what happens when you export Android 3.0 (intended to be targeted directly at tablets or handsets with extremely high resolutions) from the SDK and port it to Verizon’s HTC DROID Incredible? Not much at all.  Due to the handset’s screen resolution, [...]

 Motorola Milestone X

Bluegrass Cellular, a regional carrier centered in Kentucky, has announced that the Motorola Milestone X is "coming soon" to their network. The phone is more or less a Droid X without the Droid branding, and continues the Milestone branding that Motorola has used for their Droid phones when offering them to carriers not named Verizon. The phone is the latest addition to a robust Android lineup from Bluegrass that includes the original Milestone (OG Droid) and the HTC-made Desire and Wildfire. For some reason the Milestone X is listed as having Android 2.1 Eclair as opposed to Froyo, which has long since rolled out for the Droid X.

The launch of the Milestone X opens the possibility for the phone to make its way overseas or to grace other regional U.S. carriers like Cellular South. [Bluegrass Cellular] Thanks to Nathan for the tip!
